Dear Friends and Fellow Patrons:
The 25th Annual Knoxville Heart Ball will be held on Saturday, February 27th, 2010. This event is the major fundraiser for the American Heart Association in East Tennessee. It is important to note that the funds returned to the greater Knoxville area by the American Heart Association have traditionally exceeded the amount of funds raised by the Heart Walk, the Go Red For Women Luncheon, and the Heart Ball combined – with over $900,000 given to fund researchers here in Knoxville, the return on your investment last year was over 150%! These funds directly benefit the community through education and research. We, as many of you, have faced firsthand, in our families and among our friends, the devastation of heart disease.
Thanks to major technological advances and improvements in treatment modalities, we have made great strides in the treatment of these diseases; however, much remains to be done. Heart disease and stroke are currently the #1 and #3 killers of Americans, and the American Heart Association is committed to funding research and education that will change these statistics. All cardiovascular diseases combined claim one million lives annually, more than the next sixteen causes of death combined and almost twice the number of deaths caused by all forms of cancer A successful Heart Ball will give us the opportunity to help fulfill the American Heart Association’s commitment to fund the research and education that is critical to reducing heart disease and stroke.
On behalf of our Executive Leadership Team and our committee members, we are distinctly honored to serve as Co-Chairs of this Hallmark 25th Anniversary Event. We ask that you join us in supporting the 2010 Knoxville Heart Gala by giving as generously as you can, by learning as much as you can about these dreaded diseases and by maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle. We encourage you to join us at this event as we work together to save lives.
We look forward to seeing you at the 25th Annual Knoxville Heart Ball, February 27, 2010.
